Using the POS Terminal, operators can create up to 6 menus, with each menu containing up to 42 items. For applications that have more items than the menu system can hold, such as retail, UPC barcodes can be used to eliminate the user selection process entirely.
To keep up with the demands of high volume environments, the POS Terminal has a few customizations and features that aid in keeping transactions quick and simple. The main option is “fast tender,” a customization which tells the POS Terminal to go through availible funds in a specified order for payments. Avalibile payment options for the POS Terminal include meal plans, flex dollars, and declining balance. Should funds from all of these options be drained, the POS Terminal will ask for a different form of tender, such as cash or credit. Another option called “user select” allows a user to choose the payment method they wish to use, but it can slow the transaction process. TotalCard Meal Plan Transaction Terminal If you are looking for a smaller, sleeker terminal or have an existing cash management device, the TotalCard Meal Plan Transaction Terminal may be a fit for your campus. The meal transaction terminal functions exactly the same as the POS terminal except that it doesn’t have a cash drawer and comes in a smaller, more modern package. This makes the meal plan terminal great for applications functioning primarily with flex dollars, meal plans, and declining balance in smaller environments.
TotalCard Compact Transaction Terminal The Compact Transaction Terminal is a new point of sale device designed for smaller applications where a full POS Terminal is not necessary, saving you money and space. For added convenience, the compact transaction terminal also includes an NFC card reader. This allows cards to be quickly analyzed without swiping. The terminal functions just like the POS terminal when handling funds, as it can be configured for “fast tender” and can deduct from meal plans, flex dollars, and declining balance. Since it can be used at more locations where a POS terminal may not be used, the Compact Transaction Terminal is also a great way to check and validate IDs at more locations to determine if a cardholder is active or inactive.
